Catapalooza '09
A Summer of Free Love! -
Extended Through October '09
Temperatures are rising…and so is the cat population at
The Washington County Humane Society. As always, the summer
months see an increase in the number of felines entering
animal shelters, and with the recent losses of jobs and homes,
WCHS is ablaze with cats!
This summer is the purrfect time to join a lot of really
cool cats at the first ever Cat-apalooza – A Summer of Free
Love! at The
Washington
County Humane Society. Great cats will put on very cool shows
on multiple “stages.” “We’ve booked a wide variety of acts,”
said Executive Director Marnie Brown, “so you’re sure to find
groups and solo cats that appeal to your taste!”

From old favorites like The Steve Litter Band and the
Mewbie Brothers to some of the best new artists like 2Cat
Shakur or the country crooners Rascal Cats, these talented
felines are sure to put on a great show. And unlike most
concerts and music festivals, the shelter will make it easy to
take your favorite artist (or artists) home with you for a
lifetime of entertainment.
Our kickoff begins Saturday, July 18th.
Extended adoption hours will run from
11 a.m. until
7 p.m. with a D.J. and brat fry. Visitors can tour the
various “stages” for their preferred style ranging from
Country or Classic Rock…to Disco or Alternative. “We want our
wonderful cats to get the exposure and recognition they
deserve, and we’re hoping to get multiple contracts (adoption)
signed on at this exciting kickoff,” Brown said.
Check out our solo artists like FogCat and Tim McClaw, or
groups like Huey Lewis & the Mews and Purrvana. Until Labor
Day, cats 2 years and up can be adopted at no charge. All
other normal adoption procedures will be followed. Each cat
going home from WCHS is spayed or neutered, has its initial
shots, and been treated with Revolution. Cats have also been
tested for feline leukemia and FIV. And the added incentive
of the Buddy System allows you to adopt two cats for the price
of 1!
So drop in, beat the heat, and “chill out.” Join us for
our Summer of Free Love and enjoy a lifetime of
entertainment. For more information, call 262-677-4388.
