Why I Foster
Care
by Janna O'Connell
Foster care is a way for me to give "more", and still have flexibility in my
schedule. It is because of a foster home that:
-
A shy animal is becoming more
socialized
-
A sick animal is getting more
personalized care
-
A litter of kittens or puppies
are getting the human interaction they need to become wonderful, loving,
and trusting pets
While it sometimes is hard to
bring the fosters back to the shelter after giving so much of yourself to
them, it is an invaluable service to the animals and the shelter and is
worth any difficult emotions I may have to deal with.
I have done foster care for the
WCHS for 6 years and I do not plan to stop. It fills my heart in an
indescribable way. You get to meet so many different animal personalities,
and you grow from each one of them.
