Class Requirements

  • You must bring proof of all shots and nasal bordatella to the first class. Nasal bordatella must have been given 2 weeks prior (bordatella is good for one year) to the start of class to have time to be effective.
  • You must be at least 15 years old to handle a dog in training class. 
  • Collars and leashes will be available for sale at the Humane Society. 
  • In order to guarantee a place in class, payment MUST be received in full prior to the start of class. 
  • CLASSES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE due to limited class sizes.

If class is cancelled due to inclement weather,   These classes fill up quick, so please stop in or call at (262) 677-4388 to see if a class still has open spaces. 

Notices of closings will be made on WEKV 92.5 FM (147.0 AM) in West Bend, and on WTKM 104.9 FM in Hartford.


 

Basic Dog Handling

Dogs 5 Months and Up

This class is open to new dogs and graduates of puppy class. Here you will work toward perfecting your handling skills, basic manners, and learn new exercises. You will have the opportunity to proof your dog mid distractions. Open forum for dog related topics and problem solving.

Creating a Calm Dog

This is a one-on-one session, in your home or at the shelter to curb unwanted behavior. Help with barking, lunging, pulling, nipping, etc...

Puppy Class

Dogs 8 weeks to 4 months

Introduce your puppy to basic manners, such as, sit, down, come and more. Discussion topics include: typical puppy behavior and problem solving for unwanted behavior. Your puppy will have the opportunity to interact with others, increase his confidence, and improve his social behaviors. (Thursday class offers confidence course equipment.)

Thursday Puppy Social Hour

Your puppy will be introduced to foundation behaviors, and socializing with other puppies and humans. Open forum for puppy related topics and problem solving. This is a great class for introducing your puppy to the world of good behaviors.

Puppy and Basic Combined

This class is open to puppies and dogs. The class is constructed to introduce your puppy to basic manners and to proof your dog amid distractions. The discussion topics include: typical puppy and dog behavior and problem solving. Obedience training and agility training are introduced in this class.

WEDNESDAY EVENING Advanced & Agility Class

This class is for dogs that have had previous training. It is a drop in class for perfecting your handling skills and advanced exercises. You will have the opportunity to practice obedience exercises, conformation handling, and agility for fun or in preparation for competition., This class is directed towards off leash control and using hand signals.

(Must have previous training)

January through October:  7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Cost:  $5.00 per session

Beyond Basic

This class is for dogs that have had previous training. It is a drop in class for perfecting your handling skills. You and your dog work and progress at your own pace. Here you will have the opportunity to learn off leash exercise, hand signals, practice obedience and agility training for run and covers the content in the CGC test. Open forum for dog related topics and problem solving.

(Must have previous training)

Thursday Evenings: 7:15-8:00
